TOMS humble beginnings happened unintentionally. During a trip to Argentina in 2006 American Traveller and TOMS founder Blake Mycoskie befriended children in Argentina. Witnessing the hardships he found children growing up with no shoes to protect their feet. His solution to the problem was simple. To help the children he met, he created TOMS the footwear brand. They would match every pair of shoes purchased with a pair of new shoes given to a child in need. This revolutionary concept has grown into a global movement. The for-profit business thats sustainable and not reliant on donations, has provided over 60 million pairs of shoes to children since 2006.
